What Your Favorite American Beverage Says About You

Fourth of JulyWith the Fourth of July just around the corner, it’s time to feel a little red, white and buzzed. At 4E, we pride ourselves on fulfilling the American dream and therefore, have done our own research on the best American beverages out there. The Fourth Edition is feeling a little star, spangled bannered hammered and luckily, we know exactly what you should be drinking this Independence Day (if you’re 21+, of course). Here are just a few of your favorite American libations and what they say about you.

Tito’s Vodka: You like to live life in the fast lane. You’re willing to spend a little extra guap to enjoy the finer things in life, because why the hell not? Your friend Tito is always at your side whether it’s with a splash of tonic and lime (ohhh you fancy) or just straight up. You’re that cool guy/gal at the party who people respect.

On a 1 to Star, Spangled, Hammered scale, you’re at about an 8.

Natty Light: You just like to #party wherever and whenever. You enjoy the simple things and as long as you’re with your bros watching ESPN, you couldn’t be happier.  Your favorite color is Nantucket red and you would be more upset if your Fantasy Football team lost than if you failed your last finance exam.

On a 1 to Star, Spangled, Hammered scale, you’re at about a 6.

Jack Daniels: You’re just f****** wild. You’re def the life of the party and do not live in ragrets, even though you probably should. You can make friends anywhere and the bartender at your favorite watering hole knows your name. You may not be the classiest, but you’re a nice guy/gal and always ready to show your patriotism.

On a 1 to Star, Spangled, Hammered scale, you’re at a solid 10.

California White: In your natural state, you are on the quieter side, but once you get a little Jesus juice (wine) in you, you’re a lot (like a lot) louder. You enjoy hanging out in more intimate settings and have an tendency to eat a whole wheel of Brie when drunk. Your average rate of likes per photo on Instagram is over 100 and you talk in hashtags. You’re patriotic, but you’ve seen the world and know what’s out there (because you went abroad, obviously).

On a 1 to Star, Spangled, Hammered scale, you’re at a 4.

Fireball: You don’t drink a lot, but when you do, it’s always a crazy time. You have a sweet tooth and thus, Fireball is your go-to. You can be a recluse during the week, hiding in the shadows of Lau. But when your friends finally get you out to Tombs, you tear up that dance floor (whether that is a good or bad thing). You’re studious, but also social. **Disclaimer: apparently, Fireball is Canadian, but that’s irrelevant**

On a 1 to Star, Spangled, Hammered scale, you’re at a 7.

We hope that all of you show your patriotism and love for ‘Murica this Fourth of July. Drink responsibly!

Will Angelina Jolie teach at Georgetown?

Angelina Jolie Teaching at Gtown

Last week, the London School of Economics appointed four new visiting professors for their Centre for Women, Peace and Security program. One of those appointed was none other than screen legend/humanitarian Angelina Jolie! While this is a wonderful addition to LSE’s program and just one more thing Jolie can check off her already overflowing resume, we want to know when she will make it across the pond to Georgetown.

We love you too!

So 4E is here to give you the scoop! Could Jolie’s next teaching gig be on the Hilltop? In a statement to The Hoya, the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security emphasized their goal to collaborate with their sister program at LSE, which includes possibly bringing Jolie and Former UK Foreign Secretary William Hague – another of the center’s new professors – to Georgetown. In fact, GIWPS Executive Director Melanie Verveer reportedly met with Jolie during a recent trip to London.

Here is the institute’s full statement below:

The Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security has enthusiastically supported the creation of the LSE Centre for Women, Peace and Security. We are ‘ sister’ programs on either side of the Atlantic with complementary missions – to study and highlight the roles of women in peace and security worldwide. We have been collaborating and are in discussions about how to forge a deeper partnership, given our unique strengths and shared goals. We look forward to, at some point, welcoming Angelina Jolie to Georgetown, and to welcoming former UK Foreign Secretary Hague back to The hilltop. In 2014, the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security awarded Foreign Secretary Hague with the Hillary Rodham Clinton Award for Advancing Women in Peace and Security for his dedicated leadership to prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence in conflict.”

While LSE may have Angelina Jolie for now, 4E thought it would be fun to see who else would make an awesome visiting professor at Georgetown.

Michael Scott: MGMT-200 Managerial Communication

Kanye West:  ECON-002 Econ Principles Macro

Project 1: How to get out of $53 million in personal debt?

Beyonce: WRIT-015 Writing and Culture

Because when life gives you lemons…

Leslie Knope: GOVT-237 Education/Politics/Policymaking

You will only get this if you watch Parks and Rec, but we are ready, Leslie Knope!

In all seriousness, we hope Georgetown keeps collaborating to bring the best and brightest minds to campus.  4E is here to keep you up to speed!

Georgetown Day Drinking Hacks

Georgetown Day Drinking Hacks

The time has come for ALL Georgetown students to relax, let loose and celebrate the end of classes. Georgetown Day is almost here and 4E is ready to get you very excited for all of the debauchery.

One who has experienced the ridiculousness of Georgetown Day knows that you will be moving from townhouse to rooftop to lawn to (insert pizza place here) to your bed.  You’ll be on the move and therefore will need a nifty way to carry your libations safely from brunch to party.  4E is here to give you some Georgetown Day drinking hacks!

Hack #1: Go to SNAXA and use the slushie machine to create the perfect portable beverage!  Need a cold drink to cool you off after dancing too much on the Vil A rooftop? Run over to SNAXA and get a slushie, then pour a little bit of your fav alc in it.  I recommend some vodka or rum!

Hack #2: The Corp cups will be your best friend!  Just order your fav coffee drink and add Kahlua or Bailey’s! You’ll feel energized and buzzed.

Hack #3: Einstein’s orange juice. You can’t go wrong with orange juice as your solid chaser or cocktail accoutrement.  Run down to Einstein’s in the morning and grab an orange juice to make the perfect mimo. Take a bagel while you’re at it, because eating something to soak up that andré is essential.

Hack #4: Get a straw for your personal bottle of André. I don’t think I need to explain why this drinking hack is a must. Let’s just say a straw is efficient and you won’t be sloppily getting champagne all over you.

Hack #5: And of course, you can never go wrong with carrying around a personal flask!

Here are just a few of the many approaches one can take when carefully transporting their precious gin & juice. Just remember to drink responsibly!

How To Coachella In Your Dorm

Coachella PostAccording to various social media feeds and your BFF Lauren’s insta account who decided to go to college in SoCal, Coachella starts this weekend. Apparently, it’s the place to be!

Not going to Coachella these next two weekends? Luckily, 4E has the perfect guide to start your own #Chella2016 party in your dorm!

Step 1: Dress like you’re a vagabond hipster 1960s flower child with a touch of politically incorrect Navajo.

Make sure everything you wear costs at least $500!

Step 2: Acquire the drugs….JUST KIDDING! Instead, just pretend you are one with the music while erratically dancing.

Step 3: Get your perfect Chella Playlist.  Whether you’re into House, that newest Indie band, or that chill white rapper, Coachella has it all!

Step 4: Prepare the ambiance! In order to do this, you must make sure your dorm is set to 110 degrees with the occasional dusting of desert sand! Prepare your bandanas!

There you have it! The perfect guide to try to be one of the #coolkids.  Get your insta accounts ready!

Word Wednesday: HAUNTING

haunting_shadow4E is here to keep its readers hip and in the loop.  So, if you haven’t already heard, the new word on block is “HAUNTING”. What is “haunting” you may ask? The new form of ghosting; haunting is when one breaks off the relationship without explanation or contact, but still communicates indirectly through social media.  If ghosting wasn’t bad enough, haunting may be the ultimate low of our awkward relationship or “lack there of” culture.

So, what are some examples of haunting? 4E is here to help.

SNAPCHAT:

You were totally ghosted last weekend by let’s call him “Michael,” but you two are still friends on Snapchat.  You thought everything was going great and you even had a Snapchat streak of 4 whole days! But, that is all long gone, as “Michael” has stopped all communication for a whole week.  YET, HE STILL VIEWS YOUR STORY LAST NIGHT OF YOU EATING A CHICKEN QUESADILLA AT EPI!!! The sore reminder of him hurts the pit of your stomach.  Delete your “Michael,” ladies!

FACEBOOK:

Girls can ghost and haunt, too! You totally thought that you and let’s call her “Jessica” hit it off at that VIL A golf party.  You even took her to Georgetown Cupcake for a casual date on a TUESDAY night!!! After which, you thought it appropriate to Facebook friend her.  She accepts and you two see each other for three weeks.  And by that, I mean you go home with each other for three consecutive weekends.  When all of the sudden, you never hear from “Jessica” again and thus, you have been ghosted. Two weeks later, you see her name pop up on your notifications that she liked your new profile pic.  Confused? You should be. It’s probably best to just unfollow or unfriend her as it’s still a sore subject among your bros.

4E hopes that after properly defining the word HAUNTING, you will now know that there can be something worse than ghosting.
