Meet Your 2017 Mr. Georgetown Candidates!

If the competition to find a ticket were not fierce enough, the competition for the crowning of Mr. Georgetown Class of 2017 promises to be one of the fiercest ever. From its promises of song to dance to talents never before seen in Gaston Hall, this year’s lineup is sure to make the judges’ decision a difficult one.

Will they have you looking like this?

Or like this?

Without further ado, 4E presents your candidates for this year’s Mr. Georgetown Pageant:

  • Name: Navneet Vishwanathan, Mr. SAS
  • Hometown: Nanuet, N.Y.
  • School: SFS
  • Major: International Economics
  • What do you love most about your organization? The best thing about SAS is deep cultural involvement and the environment that it builds. SAS really is a home away from home because of how uniquely I’m able to relate to the community and express my heritage and upbringing with similar peers. On top of that, SAS does a great job of extending this to the greater Georgetown community through Rangila and other programs that allow me to share my background with everyone. All that and the food of course, food is the best. Food is good.
  • If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far, what would the title be? Not a biography, a cookbook. “Big Data, Baseball, and Masala: A guide to spicing up your regression models.”
  • What is your most beautiful feature? My beard. It’s my most distinguishing feature and TBH is pretty luscious. I shampoo it daily with a pineapple- and lemon-based beard wash with chunks to exfoliate. After that I use a pine-scented balm to tame and moisturize it.

  • Name: Matthew Amberger, Mr. GUGS
  • Hometown: Staten Island, N.Y.
  • School: MSB
  • Major: Finance/OPIM
  • What do you love most about your organization? The thing that I love most about GUGS is the sense of community that permeates the club. Despite members having such varying backgrounds and career paths, we all share the common bond of loving barbecuing and eating delicious food.
  • What is your favorite meme in the Georgetown meme page? My favorite meme in the Georgetown meme page was the one that was actually directed at GUGS. It was at a time when it was popular to send a DM to any club/business asking something that people really didn’t know the answer to. In this case, it asked, “Why are our burgers so round?” I found this to be so funny because we get asked this question all of the time, and while the answer is obvious to our members, we realize our burgers definitely aren’t “normal.” The real answer to the question is that we are required to serve our burgers well-done, so by having them rolled into a ball, they can stay juicy while still being a full meal.
  • If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far, what would the title be? The autobiography title would be “Yes, but Without the H.” I can’t count the amount of times that I’ve introduced myself and people thought my last name was actually hamburger. To be fair, for the past three years I’ve been in a club dedicated to making burgers, so it’s very fitting, but this funny interaction has been around since I was in kindergarten. While many things have changed since the first time it happened, this little joke has been one of the few constants in my life.

  • Name: Austin Rose, Mr. Club Soccer
  • Hometown: Frederick, Md.
  • School: College
  • Major: Government
  • What do you love most about your organization? Soccer has always been an important part of my life, and I love getting to play with a great group of guys at Georgetown. Admittedly, I peaked in my middle school rec league, but I still like to get out there to stretch my legs for a solid 10 minutes before returning to the bench.
  • What is your favorite meme in the Georgetown meme page? The “send nukes” meme. I really respect Jawad for actually sending the message to professor Kroenig, and I think such healthy dialogue between a progressive student and an outspoken neocon represents what Georgetown is all about.
  • If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far what would the title be? “The Chronicles of Yeah Boiiii.” I’m a very upbeat and enthusiastic person, and every once and a while I like to let out a big old “Yeah Boiiii” when I’m feeling high on life. I also really identify with the Yeah Boiii Youtube legend, and have been practicing for years to emulate his tone and endurance.

  • Name: Ari Goldstein, Mr. JSA
  • Hometown: San Francisco, Calif.
  • School: College
  • Major: Government
  • What do you love most about your organization? I love how good JSA is at including and celebrating the diversity that exists within Georgetown’s Jewish community. Some Hoyas identify as cultural Jews, some as religious Jews, others as spiritual Jews, and still others as political Jews or familial Jews, but JSA has always treated this diversity as our strength, fostering a culture of both dialogue and celebration. I actually think that’s no small feat for an organization that’s supposed to represent an entire community. Also, we have monthly brunches with bagels and lox, which is my other favorite thing.
  • If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far what would the title be? I’d probably call it “National Treasure: Book of Secrets,” for obvious reasons.
  • Who is your favorite Georgetown alum? Definitely Benjamin Franklin Gates, AKA Nicolas Cage’s character in the “National Treasure” movies. There’s no way he could have stolen the Declaration of Independence without studying American history (and maybe stealing the clock hands?) at Georgetown.

  • Name: Matt Linz, Mr. Club Swim
  • Hometown: Randolph, N.J.
  • School: College
  • Major: Biology
  • What do you love most about your organization? There’s a pretty strong sense of community. It runs the whole spectrum; we all bond for 10 hours driving to Club Swimming Nationals in Atlanta every April, but we also ask each other for feedback on memes.
  • What is your most beautiful feature? Maybe my sense of humor … but probably my butt. Hopefully that’ll explain itself during the group dance portion of Mr. Georgetown!
  • Who is your favorite Georgetown alum? Jackie Kennedy Onassis. I love how gracefully she carried herself. I think it’s a little-known fact that she took continuing education classes in American history here. My favorite high school teacher instilled in me a fondness for president and president-adjacent factoids; I have a head full of trivia.

  • Name: Max Wolfgang Rosner, Mr. Knights of Columbus
  • Hometown: South Side of Chicago, Ill.
  • School: College
  • Major: Theology/Government
  • What do you love most about your organization? It’s the only organization — at least that I know of — that works toward social justice and views a sheathed sword as a socially acceptable fashion accessory.
  • What is your most beautiful feature? My calves. Louis XIV believed a strong, toned, hairy set were the pinnacle of beauty. I got to play the Sun King for a dance performance in my French history course last semester. It was a liberating experience.
  • Who is your favorite Georgetown alumn? Trevor McLean. (Disclosure: Trevor McLean is a judge for Mr. Georgetown 2017.)

  • Name: Dan Fain, Mr. Ultimate Frisbee
  • Hometown: Madison, Wis.
  • School: College
  • Major: Economics
  • What do you love most about your organization? I love that for four hours every week I get to practice with my best friends and forget about everything else going on in my life.
  • What is your most beautiful feature? My calves. Fourteen years of Irish dance have sculpted them well.
  • Who is your favorite Georgetown alum? Preston B. Whitmore. It’s hard to beat someone who rediscovered the lost city of Atlantis.

  • Name: Tyler Kranawetter, Mr. GIVES
  • Hometown: Laguna Hills, Calif.
  • School: College
  • Major: Biochemistry
  • What do you love most about your organization? I love the inclusive atmosphere of friends GIVES creates. Anyone can join and be my friend, and I’m always desperate for more friends.
  • What is your favorite meme in the Georgetown meme page? It’s the truest of feelings, but GIVES won’t do that to you!
  • What is your most beautiful feature? My blue eyes because my parents both have brown, so I am genetically very lucky I ended up with them.

  • Name: Ben Costanza, Mr. Phantoms
  • Hometown: Rochester, N.Y.
  • School: College
  • Major: Government
  • What do you love most about your organization? As a musical style, a cappella is incredibly unique, as it promotes both individualism and community. Each person is responsible to have a complete mastery of his or her own part; however, that part is meaningless by itself. Only when sung with those of the other group members does it gain true value — and become art. Regarding the Phantoms specifically, we sing “Like a Prayer” by Madonna sometimes, and that’s pretty fun.
  • What is your favorite meme in the Georgetown meme page? This one because it has the least amount of likes, making it the most exclusive and therefore the most valuable.
  • Who is your favorite Georgetown alum? It’d have to be a three-way tie between Leo O’Donovan (for his hall’s chicken fingers), Antonin Scalia (for his Supreme Court appointment capping off an evolution of the social and political standing of Italian-Americans in the United States), and my friend Ed Crotty (for telling funny jokes).

    • Name: Cameron Perales, Mr. APO
    • Hometown: Laguna Hills, Calif.
    • School: College
    • Major: History/Classical Studies
    • What do you love most about your organization? What I love most about APO is that we’re a family of people who are committed to helping others as best we can. Service to others is at the core of what we stand for as an organization, and its truly rewarding to see the impact we can have on our community, and that impact brings us together in a deep and authentic way.
    • What is your favorite meme in the Georgetown meme page? This one. Why? Because traffic on the 5 and the 405 are a way of life. #WestCoastBestCoast
    • What is your most beautiful feature? Once my middle school nurse abruptly paused in the middle of talking to me about my broken thumb, held up my entire hand and examined it for a long 30 seconds. After she finished she said with a tinge of jealousy that I have perfect nail buds. So I guess I have that going for me, which is nice.

      • Name: Danny Frumento, Mr. NSO
      • Hometown: Valley Stream, N.Y.
      • School: College
      • Major: Government/Theater
      • What do you love most about your organization? NSO has the ability to shape new students like no other organization on campus can. Someone’s experience in NSO can completely shape the rest of their time at Georgetown. The friends they make and the memories they share will be lifelong, and it was an honor being able to have a hand in impacting so many new students and families’ lives.
      • What is your favorite meme in the Georgetown meme page? I’m a lonely soul, and sometimes a fella needs some love.
      • If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far, what would the title be? It’s Been Downhill From There: A Story of How I Peaked in High School” … because I peaked in high school.

        • Name: Nick Na, Mr. FOCI
        • Hometown: Atlanta, Ga.
        • School: SFS
        • Major: International Political Economy
        • What do you love most about your organization? Everybody’s going to probably say “I love my organization because community” or “it’s the people” or maybe they’ll even throw in the casual “cura personalis.” I’m going to be edgy and say I love FOCI for its fo-love for fo-puns because fo-tastic focians are fo-eva using them at all our focials. fofofofofofofofo.
        • What is your most beautiful feature? I’d have to say my most attractive feature is my big toe. Back in Atlanta, they used to call my toe “biggie smalls” because it’s the biggest of all my small toes. Its sensual curvature and mellifluous scent can even excite old ladies on New Jersey beaches.
        • If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far, what would the title be? “Pretty Boy Swag.” Self-explanatory.

          • Name: Max Hartley, Mr. GOLD
          • Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio
          • School: MSB
          • Major: Finance/Accounting
          • What do you love most about your organization? GOLD (or Georgetown Opportunities for Leadership Development) is a great organization designed to help young people on campus blossom into well-balanced and capable leaders. What I love most about GOLD is being able to see every person who joins GOLD grow as both a leader and person as well as apply what they learn in their other activities.
          • What is your favorite meme in the Georgetown meme page? As an RHO worker, I can’t say this is a direct quote from my resume, but what I can say is that working at the RHO has provided me a vast array of both technical and people skills that are unparalleled through any other on-campus experience.
          • If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far, what would the title be? “Living Life to The Max,” because who wouldn’t want their autobiography to then become a made for TV Disney movie with the movie title already included. I guess I also like having no regrets, but that is strictly secondary.

            • Name: Jesse McNeill, Mr. Outdoor Ed
            • Hometown: Chevy Chase, Md.
            • School: College
            • Major: Environmental Biology
            • What do you love most about your organization? Chill peeps. Good vibes.
            • What is your most beautiful feature? I have a 1.7-inch nipple hair. Very impressive.
            • If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far, what would the title be? “Why Am I Sweating? A Memoir.”

              • Name: Alex Roberds, Mr. Pep Band
              • Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.
              • School: SFS
              • Major: Regional and Comparative Studies
              • What do you love most about your organization? I know you’ll get a lot of this, but I love the community that pep band creates for its members. I love being in a group that cares so much about Georgetown, music, and each other.
              • What is your favorite meme in the Georgetown meme page? It has to be this one. I think most people can relate to this one. I think it could say “three hours later” and it would still work for Georgetown. People are very passionate about their political beliefs, which can lead to some serious (and often entertaining) debates.
              • What is your most beautiful feature? Definitely my eyes. I’ve never been able to get a consensus on what color my eyes are. I get a variety of answers, most typically blue or green (or both), sometimes hazel and even gray. Regardless of what color they are on any given day, though, you’re certain to get lost in them.

                • Name: Johnathan Marrow, Mr. Philodemic
                • Hometown: Princeton, N.J.
                • School: College
                • Major: History
                • What do you love most about your organization? In the Philodemic, we take ideas as seriously as we take people. Anyone can show up and argue on a side of our debate and we’re forced to listen and hear them out, to respond and engage. It’s a tradition we’ve been carrying on for 187 years: It never gets old and it’s always worthwhile. Plus, we dress fancy, have some funny titles, and we’re generally a bunch of radical conformist eccentrics. And I like to talk a lot.
                • Who is your favorite Georgetown alum? William Gaston, Georgetown’s first-ever student … and first-ever dropout. Also a U.S. congressman. Setting the standards for Hoyas since 1791.
                • What is your most beautiful feature? My modesty. It’s one of my best qualities ever. No one has better modesty than me.

                  • Name: Larenz Griggs, Mr. BSA
                  • Hometown: Atlanta, Ga.
                  • School: College
                  • Major: Psychology
                  • What do you love most about your organization? I love how proud we are of our identities. Though everyone is different in some kind of way, we’re all one huge family at the end of the day, and that’s hard to come by.
                  • Who is your favorite Georgetown alum? My favorite Georgetown alum is Ettian Scott, because he took me under his wing when I was an underclassman and helped me in numerous ways to maneuver throughout Georgetown. He is one of my closest friends, and we still stay in contact.
                  • What is your most beautiful feature? My most beautiful feature is probably my unapologetically, outgoing/weird personality. Though I’m a student-athlete, most people I meet say I don’t fit the stereotype. I’m extremely silly and love to laugh. I’d also rather watch anime or “Game of Thrones” before watching ESPN. Not to mention, I enjoy poetry slams and going to jazz restaurants.

                    • Name: Brian Bies, Mr. Escape
                    • Hometown: Potomac, Md.
                    • School: MSB
                    • Major: Marketing/Management
                    • What do you love most about your organization? The people. There’s a story blog campaign on the ESCAPE Facebook page called “Essence of ESCAPE.” It is about sharing the stories, backgrounds, and experiences of the 42 Leaders part of this year’s Leaders (Team 27 Universe). They are relatively short posts, but they better illustrate how inspiring the ESCAPE community is to be a part of: 42 Posts, 42 Awesome Humans! I met my best friend on ESCAPE — ESCAPE brings people from all across campus, regardless of creed, faith or identity; it is wonderful to see the magic of ESCAPE in this way.
                    • Who is your favorite Georgetown alum? I know, “National Treasure” is a movie and “Scandal” is a TV Show, but they epitomize how great Georgetown is: Ben’s love of history, wanting to do something greater than himself (#JesuitValues), and he is portrayed by the iconic Nicolas Cage. Olivia Pope is a badass (no other word for it), as she is passionate and determined: She developed her reputation as the best fixer in D.C. because she accomplishes what no one else can! Who doesn’t want to be like Kerry Washington/Olivia Pope?
                    • What is your most beautiful feature? I just asked one of my housemates/best friend at Georgetown, Daniel Ernst, and he immediately said, “your eyes,” which is funny because I don’t actually know the color of my eyes! Depending on the circumstances, some people will say they are green, and others will say they are brown.

So, whose got your vote? Come out on Nov. 4 to find out who will be crowned ~King~.

You be the judge. Let’s meet the boys:

Deep Dheri- MR. GUGS

Deep

Hometown: Montville, NJ
School: MSB
Major: Finance & Accounting

What do you love most about your organization? The weekly GUGS grill is the happiest part of my week, every week. From rolling the 150 pounds of raw meat to serving the freshman (or senior) who’s never had a juicy GUGS burger, along with all of the conversations and cornhole that occurs in between, makes for a perfect Friday afternoon.

What is your most beautiful feature? My naturally long and voluminous eyelashes.

What is your spirit animal? Duck. I’m cool, calm and collected on the surface but paddling ferociously under the water.

Joe Luther- MR. GUSA

12043128_10153686386219617_3102728706372332295_n

Hometown: My hometown is River Forest, Illinois. I know because I edited its Wikipedia page one time.
School: What college am I in? I’m in the college.
Major: I am a government major with minors in psychology and sociology, respectively.

What do you love most about your organization? That I can take as many napkins as I want from Chipotle and no one says anything.

What is your most beautiful feature? That my organs all work together like a high school football team before the big game.

What is your favorite song to sing? “The Charge of the Light Brigade” by Alfred Lord Tennyson

Connor Rohan- MR. IMPROV

Connor

Hometown: I’m from Delmar, NY, which is a hamlet in the town of Bethlehem which is a suburb of Albany, NY which is the capital and 6th largest city in New York State. Albany is also known for being one of the least friendly cities in the world.
School: Georgetown College
Major: Government and English

What do you love most about your organization? I love that improv teaches me to flawlessly navigate a testimony before a grand jury without getting caught up in my lies and being sent to prison. Thanks to the Georgetown Improv Association, I’ll never have to pay for my wicked deeds and die in a six by eight foot concrete cell. Thanks, Improv!

What is your most beautiful feature? If Dove advertisements have taught me anything, it’s that everyone is beautiful. It doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside. it’s what’s inside that counts. Black or white, male or female, young or old, short or tall, you are beautiful! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! That being said, probably my legs and ass.

What is your favorite song to sing? My band in high school (Rutnik Family Clambake) used to play Whats Up by 4 Non Blondes a lot. We won a talent competition with it once. Very fun song to sing.

Josh Tsung- MR. AASA

Josh

Hometown: Fairfax, VA. But I go home often to the motherland (Taiwan).
School: College
Major: Economics

What do you love most about your organization? I love many things about AASA (Asian American Student Association)- from the events they host to the people in it. The best thing about AASA is that it’s a family- one that brings everyone in as their own, makes you feel comfortable, and creates the culture you want to be a part of when you’re here at Georgetown. Everyone gets along well, jokes around with one another, and we literally do everything together! It’s awesome, I wouldn’t it trade it for the world.

What is your most beautiful feature? People always compliment my butt. But I want to say my most beautiful feature is my smile :)

What is your favorite song to sing? I usually don’t know any lyrics to songs but among the few songs I do know the lyrics to, it’d be a toss up between Wannabe- Spice Girls and Where is the Love- Black Eyed Peas. Anything throwback is a go!

Edwin Lopez- MR. IRC

Edwin

Hometown: El Paso, Texas / Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua (#borderlands).
School: School of Foreign Service
Major: Regional and Comparative Studies between Latin America & Eastern Europe, concentrating on post-violence state development.

What do you love most about your organization? It’s a community of people who love the world! Everyone has a different focus, subject matter, aspiration, etc. I met most of my academic mentors here, and got to participate in fun crisis-simulations, hear ambassadors speak, and be constantly reminded that it is possible to change the world for the better. It was all I wanted Georgetown to be my first few years, and I appreciate the IRC for welcoming me with open arms.

What is your most beautiful feature? I’ve been told it’s my smile, but I rarely look at the mirror and smile at myself, so how about you smile at me next time you’re in Red Square, and I’ll smile back?

What is your spirit animal? Dog (Bichon Frise) – according to the American Kernel Club, the Bichon Frise is “”gentle mannered, sensitive, playful and affectionate,” loves human company, and are bred to be companion dogs.

John Whitmore- MR. NHS ACADEMIC COUNCIL

12075085_10153703145999617_1769568299639573606_n

Hometown: I come from Cleveland, Ohio! I love everything Ohio!
School: NHS
Major: Human Science/Pre Med

What do you love most about your organization? Margot Keale. And the close-knit nature of our community of students and professors. From dinners with the faculty to unforgettable events like Fall Ball (shameless plug), the Nhs academic Council is always seeking to foster these unique NHS relationships. Over the last three years, my greatest student mentors (see you guys there!) at Georgetown have come from this Council, and I want to make all of them proud next week on stage! We also have a killer ratio that would deff get us into Brown House.

What is your most beautiful feature? My body. A smile that was made for selfies. #georgetownstories. Also, I’m humble as fuck.

What is your spirit animal? Sober: Rusty the Dachshund Rusty the Narcoleptic dog; Drunk: Ariana Grande (or at least I try to be)

Sam Wilkins- MR. RELAY FOR LIFE

Sam
Hometown: Sellersville, Pennsylvania
School: College
Major: Government/Theology double Major

What do you love most about your organization? The people. Through Relay For Life, I have met some of the most passionate, dedicated, and energetic people at Georgetown. From the times I make a total fool of myself at bonding events to the moments when I open up about my Mom’s battle with cancer–I know these people will always be there for me, and will never stop fighting for a cure.

What is your most beautiful feature? My disproportionately large butt…thanks Dad.

What is your favorite song to sing? “Paradise By the Dashboard Lights” by Meat Loaf.

Bryn Bogan- MR. NSO

Bryn

Hometown: Chesapeake City, Maryland
School: College
Major: Government (really original, I know)

What do you love most about your organization? There truly isn’t anything else at Georgetown as uplifting as the Saturday of move-in when you walk around campus and see yourself surrounded by smiling parents and slightly embarrassed but equally excited new students being guided to their residence halls and various other offices by OAs and other NSO staff. Never before have I experienced something in which so many people from various backgrounds and communities on the Hilltop come together under one mission quite in the same way as NSO.

What is your most beautiful feature? I mean, have you seen my hair…?

What is your favorite song to sing? I’m going to cheat and say three: 1) Wake Me Up – Avicii (NSO 2013), 2) Shower – Becky G (NSO 2014), 3) Love Myself – Hailee Steinfeld (NSO 2015)

Rob DePaolo- MR. THE HOYA

Rob

Hometown: New Rochelle, New York
School: College
Major: History major and Italian minor

What do you love most about your organization? I’d have to say I love the people most. Producing a paper twice a week is really tough, but part of the reason I enjoyed it so much is I did it with a group of people I now consider great friends. Working hard but having fun at the same time was hard to do, but we struck a balance and made a lot of memories in the process.

What is your most beautiful feature? I’d have to say my hands. They’re very dainty and smaller than one would expect for my size. It catches people off guard, but they’re still quite elegant. Perhaps, like George Costanza, I could be a hand model.

What is your spirit animal? The river otter is what I identify with — I love a good romp.

Kevin Tian- MR. CLUB VOLLEYBALL

11219299_10153693730619617_860350038834354258_n

Hometown: Acton, MA
School: MSB
Major: CS and Finance

What do you love most about your organization? My teammates. We have an interesting arrangement of crazy personalities, but they’re all great guys who know how to work hard, have fun and stick together through tough times.

What is your most beautiful feature? My smile.

What is your favorite song to sing? That changes everyday and depends on the mood, but I’m feling “All I Do” by Majid Jordan at the moment.

Matt Fried- MR. ULTIMATE FRISBEE

Matt

Hometown: Ashland, KY
School: College
Major: Government

What do you love most about your organization? Ultimate was the first family I found at Georgetown.  They’ve always been there for me and always will be.

What is your most beautiful feature? I have an eye of the beholder.

What is your favorite song to sing? It’s tough to beat Gwen Stefani’s classic “Hollaback Girl.” B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

Walter Kelly- MR. BLACK STUDENT ALLIANCE

Walter

Hometown: Linwood, NJ
School: College
Major: English and minoring in Film and Media Studies

What do you love most about your organization? I love the strong sense of community that the BSA builds. Meetings are always thought provoking and engaging, social gatherings feel like family reunions and everyone in the BSA knows how to turn up!!!

What is your most beautiful feature? It’s a tie between my creative spirit and my left eyebrow.

What is your spirit animal? James Earl Jones’s voice.

James Davis- MR. RUNNING CLUB

James

Hometown: Gainesville, FL
School: College
Major: Biology (Pre-Med)

What do you love most about your organization? It’s so tough to pick just one thing, but I’d have to say that I love that GRC is open to all levels of ability. There’s no tryout, audition, or application, so it’s open to anyone, and we have some people who come once a month just to hang out with the group, and others who train 6 days a week with us and travel and compete. This creates a really unique team atmosphere that’s pretty tough to beat. It facilitates friendships like no other, and it also reminds a lot of people who may have gotten caught up in the stress of competition in high school how to really enjoy running again.

What is your most beautiful feature? A girl once told me, “Your eyes are like the Pacific Ocean, and I want to swim in them,” so maybe my eyes.

What is your spirit animal? I always have a hard time with this question…I’d probably have to go with a gator. Chomp chomp.

Maurice McCaulley- MR. ALPHA PHI OMEGA

Maurice
Hometown: Huntsville, AL
School: SFS
Major:Culture and Politics (CULPie)

What do you love most about your organization? SERVICE! being able to serve with the diverse DC community has been really rewarding. I pledged because of the service and I stayed because of service and the amazing friends I made.

What is your most beautiful feature? I love making other people laugh! I really think laughing is an aphrodiasic and if more people laughed the world would be a better place. With that, I have a killer smile (as Tyra woudl say I got the smize down).

What is your spirit animal? Hands down, no question: White Tiger…. did you know that white tigers are genetically mutated and while EXTREMELY beautiful they live most days in pain because their brains are too big for their skulls? Beauty is pain, I guess. I feel, just like the white tiger, I am too beautiful for this world.

Neal Chaudhuri- MR. ESCAPE

Neal

Hometown: Arlington, VA
School: College
Major: Biology

What do you love most about your organization? ESCAPE is a place where people ask, “How are you doing?” and they actually want to hear the answer. There is so much less pressure to say “good” or “well,” especially if you are not feeling great.  Freshman year, I thought I had to convince so many people at Georgetown that I had it all together. I didn’t want people to see me as vulnerable or struggling to adjust to this new environment. On ESCAPE, hearing about and connecting to other students’ experiences allowed me to feel less alone at Georgetown. That is what I and all other ESCAPE leaders hope to provide: a place where first-year students can feel vulnerable, feel valued, and can eat as many s’mores as they want. One of the greatest lessons I learned through ESCAPE is that my vulnerability is my strength, and I am forever grateful to be a part of this program.

What is your most beautiful feature? I have a mutant white hair on my right arm. It grows longer than all my other arm hairs.

What is your favorite song to sing? “Lose Control” by Missy Elliott.

Chris Rom- MR. GERMS

Chris
Hometown: Arlington, VA
School: College
Major: Chemistry

What do you love most about your organization? Helping people in the Georgetown community when they really need it is immensely gratifying, especially since I have the privilege to work with the other awesome members of GERMS while doing so.

What is your most beautiful feature? The shining aura of my positivity.

What is your favorite song to sing? GERMS only has a siren song (lol, top joke that Mr. GUSA), which I can’t quite sing, so I have to split between “Shower” by Becky G and “All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey, parts of my NSO 2014 and GRC heritage.

Ed Crotty- MR. PHANTOMS

Ed

Hometown:Cleveland, Ohio
School: MSB
Major: Finance and Accounting

What do you love most about your organization? If I had to pick just one thing I’d say it’s how much I’ve learned from other Phantoms. Since I entered the group over 3 years ago I’ve been surrounded by some of the most talented musicians and people I’ve ever met. Becoming close to them has helped me grow so much as a vocalist and has pushed me to become more involved in other areas on campus, and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Well, maybe I’d trade it for the Crown of Mr. Georgetown…

What is your most beautiful feature? My doctor once told me that I had a really nice uvula.

What is your spirit animal? My dog, Amber. She’s basically me if I had no inhibitions. And was colorblind. And was a dog.

Randy Puno- MR. CLUB FILIPINO

Randy

Hometown: Manila, Philippines
School: College
Major: Economics

What do you love most about your organization? We eat so much food. Like literally we’re always eating. I cannot begin to imagine how many sacks of rice and cans of spam I’ve devoured over the last 3 years. We eat a ridiculous amount of food. But in all seriousness, Club Filipino is one big family. I can’t imagine my Georgetown experience without my super funny, ultra-werid, and genuinely great group of CF kapatids.

What is your most beautiful feature? Probably my eyebrows, I have been known to make them do the wave at parties.

What is your favorite song to sing? Anything by Walk the Moon.

Spencer Crawford- MR. TRIATHLON

Spencer
Hometown: I’m from a small city called Maumee in the great state of Ohio.
School: School of Foreign Service
Major: I’m studying STIA with a concentration in Biotechnology and Global Health and I’m pursuing a certificate in Religion, Ethics, and World Affairs.

What do you love most about your organization? I love that the captains still consider me a part of the team despite having attended 0 swim practices. Ever.

What is your most beautiful feature? In general, I’m a pretty optimistic person, probably as the result of my mom’s boundless positivity. I’d say my best feature is being able to glean the positive out of almost any situation.

What is your spirit animal? Without a doubt, I am a baboon.

Which prince has stolen your heart? Buy your tickets while you can and be sure to make it to the show this Friday Oct. 9 at 7pm.

Jordan D. Blackwell — Mr. BSA

jordanblackwell

Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
School: College
Major: Psychology and American Musical Culture

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
I love the breadth of events that BSA offers. I can go to a discussion in my sweatpants on Thursday and then dress to the nines for a party on Friday.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
I’d say my best feature is my patience.

What is your weirdest or funniest Georgetown memory?
My weirdest/funniest moment at Georgetown will probably be what transpires on Friday. It’s been crazy at practice these past few weeks. Part of me still can’t believe that we’ll be performing these dances in front of people.

Daniel Corry — Mr. GIVES

dancorry

Hometown: Wantagh, N.Y.
School: College
Major: Biology of Global Health
Minor: Music

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
One thing that I really love about GIVES is that it helps its members to feel comfortable doing service work that can sometimes be out of the member’s comfort zone. With GIVES, our members have not only performed Random Acts of Kindness, like handing out candy in Lau during midterms. In recent semesters, we have also scheduled service outreach programs, often in conjunction with other service organizations at Georgetown, that have ranged from cleaning up the neighborhood to providing packed lunches to the homeless populations of D.C. Many of these kinds of service projects can be out of the comfort zone of many people, but through GIVES, I and many other members have grown more and more acquainted with this kind of service and cannot speak enough about how worthwhile this kind of service truly is. (Sorry that was really long, I just really like GIVES.)

What’s your most beautiful feature?
I’ve been told I have really nice thighs. #neverskiplegday

What’s your favorite song to sing?
You’ll have to wait for the talent portion of the pageant to find out ;)

Grant Franco — Mr. NSO

grantfranco

Hometown Greenwich, Conn.
School: McDonough School of Business
Major: Accounting, Post-bac Pre-med

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
So I have sooooo much love for NSO I don’t even know where to start. I should start by saying, my experiences as an Orientation Advisor and then as a Captain this past year have been some of the most transformative experiences of my life.

But, what do I love mosssttttt…ugh….Other than the obvi’s: pluralism in action (obvi)/making the best friends ever(obvi)/meeting 500bajillion new amazing people (obvi)/WELCOME SESSION (OBVI)/chilling with uncomfortable new students(the point of the whole thing, obvi)/ KOB dropping Bombs at closing ceremony (obvi)/ finding yourself as a person (true true). But those are easy targets…my truly favorite part of NSO is a lil’ unorthodox. It’s the no sleep lyfe.

NSO has taught me some things about sleep:
1. When I don’t sleep around people who are sleeping, I feel like a weirdo and I am uncomfortable and self-conscious about it.
2. When I don’t sleep and I’m surrounded by people who are also not sleeping, I am definitely still super weird but I’m okay with it because everyone else is being their weird-ass selves too and it’s amazing.
3. Try being tired at Welcome Session…ITS IMPOSSIBLE! HOW ‘BOUT DEM APPLES SLEEP!
4. Also when you sleep for 4 hours a night it makes the days 20 hours long, which makes NSO seem longer than it actually is, which is fine, cause its Never NSOver.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
Ugh, rock hard abs, chizzled jaw line, piercing deep blue/green eyes?

What’s your spirit animal?
Easy. Panda. (Editor’s note: Grant included 2 sweet panda gifs but in order to save space we left them out)

Justin Giorgio — Mr. GUGS

justingiorgio

Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.
School: College
Major: Government
Minor: Chinese and Economics

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
I think the variety of people we have in GUGS is the best part. People from all over the place, all different majors, all different career paths, but we all love grilling up some meat and having a good time while we do it

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My most beautiful feature is a tough call, I’d have to go with 1: My disproportionately sized mouth or 2: The donk.

If you were a vegetable which one would you be?
According to a quick survey (aka texting two people), I am apparently a broccoli because of my currently poofy hair and generally harmless demeanor.

Jamil Hamilton — Mr. College Democrats

jamilhamilton

Hometown: Los Angeles, Calif.
School: College
Major: Government

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
Being in College Dems have me the opportunity to meet some awesome people and I’ve loved going on campaign trips across the country.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
Wow where do I even begin? I would have to say that despite my perfections, my ability to stay humble has always inspired others, so I guess that’s my most beautiful feature.

What is your weirdest or funniest Georgetown memory?
When I was an underclassman, there was a guy who went to parties dressed as captain America. To this day, I’ve always wondered who that kid who was.

Charlie Hernández — Mr. GUMSA

charliehernandez

Hometown: Guanajuato, México
School: School of Foreign Service
Major: International Politics and Security Studies

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
They promised me authentic Mexican tacos and cerveza con limón y sal if I win this contest.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My serratus anterior. It’s a muscle located between the upper abs and lats.

If you win tomorrow, how do you plan to carry out the role of Mr. Georgetown?
I might apply to be a male stripper. But I’ll definitely avoid following in the footsteps of my Miss America counterparts: no hazing allegations or pornography scandals.

Cooper Joy — Mr. Ultimate Frisbee

cooperjoy

Hometown: Baltimore, Md.
School: College
Major: Psychology

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
What I love most about Ultimate is the general vibe of the group – we’re a fun-loving, insanely welcoming family. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and aren’t afraid to be a little crazy/weird. Plus the sport itself is so fun to play!

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My most beautiful feature is probably my eyes (they’re blue and wonderful). I like them a lot and have gotten some compliments on them over the years. Haven’t gotten compliments on much else though….wonder what that means.

What is your favorite Burnett’s flavor?
Grapefruit Burnett’s is the best. Mix it with Fresca. So good. So dangerous.

Richard Jung — Mr. Club Filipino

richardjung

Hometowns: Seoul and Singapore
School: School of Foreign Service
Major: International Political Economy

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
There are so many things I love about CF: in fact I love everything about it. But if I had to choose one, it would be described as “tambay,” which means “to hang out” in Tagalog. That essentially describes what CF is about; it is a family-like environment where people can be comfortable, have fun, and consume copious amounts of good food. It is where I truly found my niche.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
People tell me my arms are the best features, but I think my best feature is my shameless willingness to be silly in public with my friends, or for my friends’ entertainment.

What time period do you belong in?
I think I belong to the industrial period, during Marx’s time. I am pretty geeky and discussing economic philosophy with the big names like Marx or Marshall might have been pretty cool. And if I was born at the beginning of industrial revolution, it would have been awesome to learn new technology as they were just coming out! Too nerdy?

Thomas Angelo Lloyd — Mr. GU Pride

thomasangelolloyd

Hometown Flushing, Queens, New York City
School School of Foreign Serivce
Major STIA: Security Studies

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
GUPride is one of the most diverse organizations Georgetown, in any way you can imagine. We are a social, advocacy, social justice, political and community group. We also have membership that includes every element of racial, gender, ability, sexual orientation identity that there can possible be.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My judgement

If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far what would the title be?
“I’m Sorry”

Ben Manzione — Mr. GUSA

benmanzione

Hometown: New Rochelle, N.Y.
School: School of Foreign Service
Major: International Politics

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
Working for the Student Advocacy Office, a major part of the GUSA Executive, has been the most rewarding experience I’ve had at Georgetown. As anybody who has gone through the Conduct process can relate, getting written up can be daunting for all students. Through my work with the office, I’ve been able to have an impact on student life here at Georgetown by working with individual students on their cases as well as on a broader level by working to implement policy changes such as instituting alcohol amnesty for GERMS calls. I love that my work affects Georgetown students of today and tomorrow.

If you were to write a memoir about your life so far, what would it be?
“I’ll Have Another Long Island: The Story of How a Boyzione became a Manzione”

Christopher Pepe — Mr. Superfoodchristopherpepe

Hometown: Essex Fells, N.J.
School: College
Major: Economics, Music

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
Superfood has been my home at Georgetown for the past 4 years. It brings together an awesome group of people, both in terms of talent and personality. Whether we’re creating a new arrangement, or just messing around in practice, it’s always a blast with Superfood.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
The word beautiful has been used to describe my booty shaking abilities

What is your weirdest or funniest Georgetown memory?
Georgetown Day 2014. I got to drunkenly perform with Superfood for a large crowd in a full Scooby Doo costume. A combination of many of my favorite things.

Jimmy Ramirez — Mr. FOCI

jimmyramirezHometown: Antioch, Calif.
School: College
Major: Government, Film and Media Studies, Justice and Peace Studies, Male Pageantry

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
The service we do. We take 54 freshmen into the D.C. community to conduct service and reflect every night. Also, the fact that we are like a social justice bootcamp and discuss structural violence. ~*~*all of the things i love in life~*~*

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My ears. They can predict the weather and hold my glasses up. #practical

If you were to create and teach your own course at Georgetown what would it be?
“Hip Hop from the 2000s” In the course we’d determine how low the Ying Yang twins wanted us to get and what Ciara means when she says ‘Goodies’.

Travis Richardson — Mr. APO

travisrichardson

Hometown: Peachtree City, Ga.
School: College
Major: Linguistics
Minor: Catholic Studies

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
I love the feeling of brotherhood, camaraderie, and community that APO fosters. What’s more, we’re the largest community service group on campus, and as such, we have an extensive history of actively engaging the greater DC area. From the homeless to AIDS victims, kids with developmental disabilities and the elderly, APO doesn’t shy away from building relationships with the most vulnerable in our society.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
Since I don’t have an overly strong body image, I’m going to have to say that my most beautiful feature would have to be my sensitivity. I try to be attentive to the needs and struggles of others, and I’m always available to be a shoulder to cry on or a friend to laugh with.

Write a Haiku.
“Haikus are easy,
But sometimes they don’t make sense.
Refrigerator.”

Salvador Rosas — Mr. DC Schools Project

salrosas

Hometown: Salinas/Elk Grove, Calif.
School: College
Major: American Studies

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
I love that I get to meet with the workers on campus as well as families from all over DC and listen to their stories.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My lips.

If you were to write an autobiography about your life so far what would the title be?
The Meatball That Keeps on Rollin’: The Salvador Rosas Story.

Ben Saunders — Mr. Running Club

bensaunders

Hometown: Los Angeles, Calif.
School: School of Foreign Service
Major: International Economics

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
It’s tough to choose just one aspect of GRC, but if I had to I’d say it has to be the people. I was taken under the wing of GRC as a young fledgling frosh, and I’ve developed a lot personally from my relationships with other members, found a great group of guys with whom to keep pursuing my passion and met one of my best friends at Georgetown who also turns out to be an awesome roommate. Great group of kids.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My sensitive side.

Who is the bachelor to beat in this year’s pageant?
Grant Franco, that guy is just DANGEROUSLY charismatic and, on top of that, has quite the smolder.

Albert Scerbo — Mr. Hawaii Club

albertscerbo

Hometown: Yardley, Pa.
School: College
Major: Government

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
A lot of people talk about finding homes in the clubs they join, but the Hawaii Club is especially homey.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My most beautiful feature is probably my collection of dad sweaters. I have a lot of really awkward looking dad sweaters which go great with my well-developed collection of dad puns and other dad jokes. Basically my goal in life is to be a cool dad. I’ve been trying to grow the requisite back hair, but it’s not happening as quickly as I’d like.

What is your spirit animal?
My spirit animal is probably Danny DeVito. People are constantly telling me that we look just like each other and also I love SpaceJam.

Dan Silkman — Mr. Relay for Life

dansilkman

Hometown: Greenwich, Conn.
School: College
Major: Government

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
I love the fun, the people and the mission.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My cowlick.

Who is the bachelor to beat in this year’s pageant?
Thomas Lloyd, Mr. GU Pride.

Zachary Singer — Mr. The Hoya

zachsinger

Hometown: Cambridge, Mass.
School: School of Foreign Service
Major: International Politics

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
It’s Georgetown’s Newspaper of Record — enough said. But honestly it’s a great group of people interested in so many different parts of Georgetown that put out great stories every week.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
I’ve been told I have a really nice butt. And I tend to agree.

What’s your favorite song to sing?
“Only Time” by Enya.

Sumeet Singh — Mr. GU Jawani

sumeet

Hometown: Long Island, N.Y.
College: McDonough School of Business
Major: Finance, Marketing

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
The family that comes with being on the team and the rush that you get from performing on stage with them.

What’s your most beautiful feature?
My luscious locks

If you were to create your own course at Georgetown what would it be?
A case competition class in which students would have to rebrand a local business in the area in teams and pitch the results of their revamped marketing plan. Digital media is a huge passion of mine and I would love to teach students how to take something fun and use it to their business advantage.

Alex Skarzynski — Mr. Senior Class Committee

alexskarzynski

Hometown: Bethessa, Md.
School: School of Foreign Service
Major: International Politics, International Security

What do you love most about the program you’re representing?
We get to bring the Senior Class together, mostly through keggers in Leo’s

What’s your most beautiful feature?
Easy, my jawline. You could cut diamonds with it.

If you got to be DeGoia for a day what would you do?
First I would find out what’s behind the Russian door, then I would spend the rest of the day pretending to be a ghost and haunting both the 5th floor of Healy and the Tunnels. I would wrap up the day by carving “DeGioia Rules” onto the walls of the Healy Clock tower and culminate in a powerful double fist pump whilst staring into the sunset.

Brian Sullivan — Mr. Outdoor Ed

briansullivan

Hometown: Hingham, Mass.
School: McDonough School of Business
Major: Operations and Information Management and Finance,

What do you love most about the group you’re representing?
Outdoor Ed provides opportunities for the entire campus to break off and retreat to the great outdoors! There is no better way of doing this than with extended backpacking trips. You will carry your load, eat the trail spice, crap in the woods and make the best friends of your life!

What’s your most beautiful feature?
I assume you mean physical … There is a chunk missing from my right ear, don’t ask.

If you win tomorrow, how do you plan to carry out the role of Mr. Georgetown?
Honestly, I want to have fun and if I win, the fun won’t stop. It’s time we take a step back and realize college might fly by, but life doesn’t. Our time is not about the grades, the courses, and the parties. It’s about the people we meet, the things we learn about ourselves, and the relationships we take onward. I want to help us remember this … Oh and bring world peace, that always seems to be the right answer to this question.

So, who’s your favorite of the bachelors? Vote in our poll below:

Who's your Mr. Georgetown 2014?

Mr. Georgetown 2013: The Contestants

meet

The Mr. Georgetown Pageant is a staple in homecoming weekend where student groups nominate a male senior leader to represent them in a battle for the crown. The event is hosted by the Georgetown Program Board and will take place this upcoming Friday, September 27 at 7 p.m. in Gaston Hall, but we’d like to introduce you to your 2013 Mr. Georgetown contestants (in alphabetical order of last name)! Vote for your favorite at the bottom in the poll!

jc

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

Honestly, having fun. I think it’s been a lot of fun so far, practicing with the guys. I don’t know, I thought it might be the worst experience of my life but so far it’s turned out to be one of the best experiences at Georgetown. To me, if I win, cool, but so far its really about having fun, entertaining the audience and having fun.

If you could switch places with someone (alive or dead, real or fictional, famous or not famous) for a full week, who would it be and why?

Arnold Schwarzenegger when he was a body builder circa 1970 or 1975 when he won six straight Mr. Olympia titles. I’m really into body building so that’d why I’d want to be him, because he’s awesome.

Chris B

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

I’m looking forward to embarrassing myself in front of many people with multiple pictures being taken.

Would you rather fight a horse-sized duck or fifty duck-sized horses?

I feel like fifty duck-sized horses because I feel like one huge duck would just bite or peck me and would fly and just take me out. These little horses, I could just kick.

NeilWhat are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

You know, I’m not going to lie: I’ve been really enjoying these dance rehearsals. So I’m just looking forward to the opportunity to dance in front of a bunch of people and totally get laughed at and it’s going to be fun!

If you had a one-way time machine, which era would you choose to live in?

Can I say the future? Is that an era? I’m going to go with the future in the hopes that the cellphone reception is better there.

Cody

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

The formal wear section … because it seems like the easiest.

What is your spirit animal?

Is Cookie Monster an animal? Yeah, Cookie Monster. I just absolutely love cookies.

EvanWhat are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

I would say the dance, but I don’t know about that. I’m sort of looking forward to the dance and terrified about the dance at the same time. I’m also very much looking forward to doing my talent I guess, but mostly I’m just looking forward to the whole experience. I’ve gone two out of the past three years and seen the upperclassmen who I’ve looked up to and now it’s my turn, so really I’m just looking forward to the experience of it and being up there to represent my group.

What would be your theme song?

I’m going to kind of interpret this as the one song I could wake up to every single morning and it’ll make me feel warm and fuzzy inside and that’s “Good Life” — OneRepublic. I will admit that my experiences in London a few summers ago may have mirrored some of the lyrics to that song. I try to always be excited about life, and it’s hard to be in a bad mood after listening to that song.

Chris G

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

The dance. It’s gonna get real. If you want to see the most awkward things in the universe, go to one of the rehearsals that we have. We’ve done a lot of rehearsals, there are maybe eight hours built into our schedules and it’s pretty intense because it’s Groove Theory-level dancing given to all of us awkward guys who probably can’t coordinate body movements at all. So …there’s that.

What is your guilty pleasure movie?

It’s not that guilty, because I don’t feel guilty about it at all but other people might. “Mean Girls.” I can quote it maybe start to finish. It’s a pretty standard guilty pleasure movie. Also “Bridesmaids.” I could go through a day probably speaking in quotes.

Alex

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

I think what I’m most looking forward to is getting to know all of the other student leaders around campus that I might not have interacted with yet and, you know, maybe bust a move with them in the opening number.

If an actor/actress played you in a movie, who would it be and why?

I think it would be Sandra Bullock, because she earned an Oscar, even though she didn’t really deserve it. So, I hope to win Mr. Georgetown, even though I don’t really deserve it.

Tim

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

I’m most looking forward to the talent part — if I make it to the talent part that is. But I’m really excited to do that.

What house would the sorting hat put you into, and why?

Although it might get a bad rap, I would probably be in Slytherin. I spent the summer here as part of a research group at Georgetown, and during the Fourth of July, someone in the group said that she thought I looked like a snake, so after Snapchatting a picture of me as a snake to everyone else in the research group and later hacking my Facebook writing “Hisssss” on everybody’s wall, the whole snake thing kinda stuck, so I guess it fits.

LaMar

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

Just doing it, honestly. Practice is always fun, all 15 of us just there goofing off so I feel like it’s going to be the same this Saturday.

If someone gave you $1,000 and you had to use it within the next hour, what would you do with it?

Honestly, I’d probably just give it to my mom just because she’s just given me so much, especially this summer. So I’d just want to pay her back.

Sean

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

I don’t think ESCAPE has had a representative before, so that’ll be cool that we’re out there for the first time. And I was kind of talked into it by all of the leaders who work with me so they’re all really excited to go and support me and hopefully that’ll also generate more visibility for ESCAPE and get more people to go. So I guess I’m excited about that aspect, to just kind of be out there for ESCAPE and increasing its name and awareness about it on campus.

If you had to be handcuffed to someone (alive or dead, real or fictional, famous or not famous) for 48 hours, who would you choose and why?

I’m gonna say Yoda, absorb some wisdom. But he is kind of short … But we’d probably do what he does with Luke, kind of learn some basics of the force … maybe some physical conditioning.

Kamil

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

I was just really looking forward to meeting all the other brave contestants who are willing to bare it all on stage in front of hundreds of other Georgetown students. It’s been great meeting all the guys and getting to know each other. It’s a fun experience!

What is are your desert island movie and book?

“Forrest Gump” because that movie always cheers me up, as many times as I watch it. It always puts a smile on my face and brings me to tears sometimes as well! And “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” that’s got to be my favorite one in the series. I could re-read it over and over.

NehemiaWhat are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

Making new friends and spreading love on people.

If you could only be one age for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

70+, but only if I could still have sex.

Patrick

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

Probably the dance with all the other guys, just because we’ve spent a lot of time rehearsing it, and I’ve gotten to know them pretty well and they’re all a lot of fun. So it’ll be fun to something with them as opposed to competing against them.

If you could eat only one food for a full year, what would it be?

Burger Madness, I swear I don’t get sick of those things.

Philip

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

Shakin’ my thang.

If someone was writing a biography about you, what would the title be?

“Climbing Healy Tower.” I got really involved in climbing through Outdoor Ed here, and so I was just thinking it had to be something with climbing which is something people know me by. And then at Georgetown, people look to the climbers as the ones who are going to take the clock hands.

Jason

What are you most looking forward to about the pageant?

Definitely the group dance, it’s just going to be really fun!

What is one thing you wish you could warn your freshman self about?

Sharing shot glasses with people may give you mono.

Who is your favorite Mr. Georgetown candidate?

Sunday Night Wrapup: Politics to Poses

You’re probably still recovering from the energy drain that this Homecoming weekend seemed to be. Whether you spent your time cheering Hoya Saxa at the football game or dancing in paint at Dayglow, chances are your lungs and limbs are spent. While you spirited away, the world did go on: here’s your Sunday Night Wrapup.

  • Our favorite ABC shows came back this Thursday. Here here for Scandal, a political drama about our very own Washington D.C.
  • After an afternoon of Ted X conferences, Friday saw the coronation of a new Mr. Georgetown, Stefane Victor from the Black Student Alliance. We’re proud to say that our very own Jon Rabar, Mr. The Hoya, was the first runner up!
  • This Saturday a fire swept through the Central Souk (marketplace) of Aleppo, Syria, as clashes between security forces and insurgents continued.
  • As the weekend closed Obama and Romney stood neck and neck in the polls at 49% and 48% respectively, according to the Washington Post
  • Get your pitchforks ready; the new season of Revenge premieres tonight! My advice: snuggle up and take a rest from the craziness that was this weekend.
